WISDOM TEETH

I am no longer wise! I can't tell you how many times I've heard that one the past few weeks. Anyhow, I did get my stinkin' wisdom teeth removed. It did nothing for my saying of "I hate teeth"! I always tell people how I hate teeth. My girls both started teething at 4 months. Jadyn didn't get her first tooth until she was 9 months old - Kylie didn't get hers until she was 13 months old. Basically, teething for that long is a joke! Hence, why I hate teeth.

Well, this experience didn't disappoint. I had so many people tell me how they were sore for a couple of days & then up & going again after that. Erik made his mom take him to the mall right after he got his out & then he was eating Taco Bell that night! Therefore, I thought this would be a piece of cake. I mean - come on!! I had an emergency c-section & didn't take one pain pill afterwards! I'm tough!

Not so, not so. This kicked my tail & was extremely hard! I went in on Friday Sept. 16th to have all 4 removed. The top 2 were out & the bottom 2 were impacted. I remember sitting in the chair getting an IV & then being in a car & then being at home. My awesome sister Robin was my babysitter for the day. She waited while I was in surgery, drove me home, got me Jamba Juice & stayed with me all day. We had a lovely Twilight marathon day!

Robin said when I came out of the room she started to laugh seeing me draped over the nurses trying to walk - until the nurses gave her a dirty look. Once in the car I guess I started crying & moaning & kind of freaked Robin out. She didn't know what to do. I, however, don't remember any of it. Then, she asked me what I wanted to eat. I replied, "Jamba Juice". She couldn't understand my request for which smoothie I wanted so she asked me to write it down. I did so in surprisingly pretty stellar fashion. She saved the tag to show how neatly I wrote because it was pretty shocking in my condition. Next, I decided to text her my order as well. In case she didn't get it the first time? Or in case she lost me being a foot away from her? Not sure - pretty silly!

Once home it was nice to just sit & relax. As days went by I didn't exactly get better. It hurt! I had to take pain pills to subside the throbbing pain which disgusted me! I was so upset & miserable. I couldn't eat, it hurt to talk, I looked like a chipmunk, bruised, & my chin, bottom lip & teeth were still numb a week later. I talked like I had a fat lip. I finally called the Dr. & went in. He did a poke test on my chin where he basically stabbed a needle all over & asked me when I could feel it. Since I could feel it at a point that was a good sign. That meant he doesn't think I have nerve damage.

Apparently, because I waited so long to get them out one of my teeth had attached itself to my jawbone. Not fused, just attached. That meant that he had to dig out part of my jawbone to get the tooth out. YIKES! That explains why my teeth don't hurt but my entire jaw KILLS! The area was also close to a nerve, so the nerve got jarred enough to make the healing of the nerve take longer than normal.

It's now been over 2 weeks. I no longer live off of pain medicine & my cheeks have pretty much gone back to normal. I'm still numb, but the doctor said that could take months to heal. That's right - months! I still have a hard time eating. Part of that is the numbness because I can't feel what my teeth are doing. It's strange & annoying. Yet, my teeth are now out & it can only get better from here! I go back in a few weeks to see how the numbness is doing. Hopefully, all is well by then! Fun times, fun times!!

VT CONF

In November we had a visiting teaching conference brunch. It went quite well I think. Thanks to my amazing presidency! I really can't take ANY credit for this one. We had a theme of "What Kind of Shoe are You?" These were our little programs:

We had a little shoe fashion show where one of the ladies in the ward narrated for us. She came fully dressed and prepared for fun - which we knew she would! We had a pair of gals dressed to model shoes for each category as she spoke about that particular type of shoe. I really want to remember how this went & of course lost my sheet on it already, so I'll paraphrase each one briefly:

{SLIPPERS} They slip in & out each month.

{FLIP FLOPS} They flip flop around each month & you never know if they're going to come or not.

{RUNNING SHOES} They run in and out each month as quickly as possible.

{BOOTS} They're the ones that come in each month to talk & talk & talk until you want to boot them out the door!

{HIGH HEELS} These are the stellar visiting teaching. They always reach your needs & go above the call of duty.

This is a really bad explanation, but you get the idea. Anyway, it was a lot of fun & a darling idea! Wish I could take some of the credit for this because it was so cute, but I can't!

CELEBS

Growing up in the households I have I've learned a few things about sports. Not much, but some. My Dad was a sports fanatic! He even worked for Kerr Sporting Goods while putting himself through college. That love for sports was passed down to my brothers. And when my Dad married Mignon & we inherited 4 more boys in our family - they fit right in. They were already big sports gurus themselves. Ahh - bliss!

My husband is also a big sports nut! He lives for basketball season!! Oh & for baseball season & football season now as well. Basically, everything! He even loves UFC fighting - which I don't understand AT ALL!! It literally makes me sick to watch!

Anyway, back to my story. When my dad worked for Kerr's back in the day, he had the chance to meet some athletes. One of them was a basketball player named Walter Davis. He was in the 1976 Olympics & helped his team win the gold medal. He was also a key player for the Suns in the late 70's & early 80's. Al McCoy called him "Sweet D". I have inherited an autographed photo of him that my Dad got for my Mom awhile ago while working at Kerr's.

Well, I have a friend named Melissa (Who is awesome by the way! ;)) who happens to have a couple of connections. Her brother-in-law is in politics. He follows his Dad who was also in politics. Well, her bro-in-law is up for re-election this year & had a little fundraiser last night. Because of his Dad he is close to Walter Davis & a few others. At his fundraiser he had a couple of old Suns players their signing autographs. Lucky for me Melissa's husband Don was feeling ill & she wanted someone to go with her. It was a fun little adventure driving to downtown Phoenix.

Not to mention pulling up to the Country Club & seeing a few fancy cars & men in suits. Melissa & I were in jeans thinking it was not a dress up occasion. We were a little nervous walking in that we were under dressed. I started joking about how I at least had my Vans on & my hair in a pony tail. (The Mary Jane style Vans. Not the old school style.) No one else was really dressed up, so we were good.

This is Melissa & I with Alvan Adams....

(Nice that my eyes are closed.) Apparently Mr. Adams won the 1976 Rookie of the Year Award & helped the Suns to the finals that same year. Now, here we are with Walt Davis...

RACE

Today I did something I NEVER thought I would do. I ran in a race! I'm not sure I can legitimately say that since I did a Family Fun Run at a race, but for me, it counts! As I've said a million times before - I DON'T RUN! I despise running & always have. Even when I was in the best shape of my life & dancing for hours everyday - I still could not run. It takes a completely different endurance to run. Well, I'm changing my ways & am now slowly becoming obsessed.
Today didn't help. I found out from a friend in my ward about this race & quickly signed up. It was great for me to kind of understand how things worked. Even though it was a family thing (& there was a lot of kids) it was an adrenalin rush for me. It was suppose to be a 1.5 mile, but I"m not sure it was that far. It went by so fast! I just kept thinking - that's it? I didn't get overwhelmed. Maybe it was the running outside and seeing different things, as opposed to running laps around a track. Or maybe just the sheer excitement of doing it. But, I loved it & can't wait for the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving! (I'm doing the 2 mile run their.) Then, I'm going to train for a 5k in Sedona - I hope!
Getting ready to go.....
At the end I got an AWESOME medal!! My cute sister Allison came running up & put it around my neck. She & my other sister Stephanie brought it for me. They were my cheering section with my girls! I loved it! They made me feel so special to take the time to come see this silly women racing with kids.
This is the main reason for doing this.....
I want to be healthier & be a good example for my girls. I hear Kylie say all the time that she hates running & hates when she has to do it in PE. I don't want her going down the same road as me. I want her to be active, healthy & happy. What better way to achieve that than by teaching by example. We had a talk today when we got home about how I said I hated running for 30 years & now after some hard work I actually enjoy it. Hopefully, it will help in the long run. (No pun intended!)

FRUSTRATED

This week I find myself OVERLY frustrated with things. It doesn't help that I have a tremendous amount of things happening right now. Oh well - such is life. Everyone has that, so I can't use that as an excuse.

My main concern right now, however, is my stinkin' diet! I started exercising about 2 months ago. I do this on and off from time to time, but I've done much better this go round. I'm so sick of always being the biggest one & being uncomfortably large. Which has led to my desperation of sucking it up & doing something about it finally!! I've talked about it for years, but now is the time for action!

About 1 month ago I decided to really start running & even counting my calories. That's an unheard of adventure for me on both accounts!! I'm a lady that can't even run a lap around the track! I never thought I really ate all that terribly, but this counting calories is hard work! It's almost a full time job. It's getting really old. As for my running - I quite enjoy it now. I walk/run 2 miles at least 5 or 6 times a week. Within that 2 miles I can now run a full mile without stopping. That is something I've never done in my entire life! So, I'm pretty proud of that. The other laps I always run the straightways & walk the curves. After my 2 miles I then run up & down the bleachers 3 times (I run at the nearby Community College) & then finish off with a cool down lap. It takes me about 40 minutes total right now.

Here's my frustration....

After 2 months you would think I would have lost something, right?! Not so in my case! A whole month of counting calories & running & a big fat nothing! My weight's the same & my inches are the same. I'm so frustrated!! I'm not going to give up, but I just don't understand what is going on. Plus, I thought exercising was suppose to make you feel better. Well, I just feel tired & worn out. Not to mention the fact that I'm STARVING all of the time. I think I can now comprehend a little bit of how Michael Phelps must feel! :)

Here's the only benefits for me so far:
1) I can actually run a mile! (Seriously - that's huge for me!)
2) My skin has actually been clearer. An added bonus I didn't think of. I can actually feel like an adult when I go out now & not like a paranoid teenager! Hopefully, it lasts & isn't just a fluke.
3) uh......uh......that's all I can think of at the moment

I don't necessarily feel better. Just tired & hungry. I can't even say I feel stronger. Oh - did I mention I do a workout DVD as well? That's how I get my strength training in. Wish it would help. I'm not going to give up. I realize I'm not like the contestants on the Biggest Loser. I'm not obese & realistically can't expect to lose weight the same rate they do. I know this, but a little something would be nice. To actually have my clothes look normal on me & not like they were painted on my body would be nice as well. It's not too much to ask for right? ;)

I've been even more sluggish the past 2 days. I'm hoping it's a hormonal thing & will go away soon. Oh well - I'll keep going. Don't mean to be a DEBBIE DOWNER on here, but I had to get it out.

BIRTHDAY

Here's the pictures from my previous post about how my birthday began. (Click

HERE if you don't know the story.) This is what my car looked like when Stephanie got ahold of it.

I have to say how sweet she was. Most people won't get this, but on one of the windows she wrote "I Love You Mail-Butt-Knee". Mail-Butt-Knee was the silly way my dear friend Sarah used to write my name when we were in high school. She passed away a year after High School and my family all knows how hard that was for me. We still make little comments about her & remember little jokes & it was so sweet of Steph to put that on the window! (And Mimi even gave me "prizes" that day! *Another Sarah saying that Mimi always tells me.) Anyway, It took some serious work to clean my car & my nails were blue & red for days! But, it was fun!

While we were locked out of the house we took some silly pictures. What else can you do? Here's my girls being mad at the door..

Kylie was too busy laughing. Here's some more silly pics & Jadyn's just sums up how we felt about the whole morning!

We were suppose to make it to a birthday party for "Grandpa Hallows" that afternoon, but I was too beside myself with stress. (Of course, totally my own making.) Plus, Erik was gone most of the day with his dad. (Turns out he had fractured his hip. He's in rehab right now. He had to have surgery. He's hoping to get out of rehab this weekend. We're also hoping for a speedy recovery! Unfortunately, he HAS to get back to work!) Erik got home in time, thanks to his brother Ron, that we were able to go to the temple with my fanily later in the afternoon. We started a tradition a few months ago to attend every 2nd Saturday. This month it got switched to the 3rd Saturday - because of Valentine's. Mimi got sick, so Mimi & Papa couldn't come. That was YUCKY! But, it was still fun. I love being able to do sealings with our little group. SO NEAT!! After the temple we headed to Cafe Rio for dinner. A HUGE THANK YOU goes to my sister Stephanie for making that all possible. She watched our girls & the Hallow's kids at my house so that we could go. She ROCKS!! The day ended on a high note. Thanks again EVERYONE!!

SERIOUS?!

I am WAY behind on blogging. I still have last weekend to update with, but I'm starting with this..... I have been up for an hour & a half & here's what has happened so far.

I was awoken at 7:00 AM by a ridiculously loud phone ring. Yeah - that would be my phone. Luckily it was my mom wanting to be the first one to wish me Happy Birthday, otherwise I might be really upset. As I was walking downstairs I noticed balloons at the front of my house. After I got off the phone I went outside to see what it was. There was balloons & a Happy Birthday poster taped out side my door. CUTE!! It looked like Allison's handwriting so I text her to say thank you & she asks what I'm talking about. Apparently it wasn't her - it was my other sister Stephanie. WOOPS!! Then, my husband comes downstairs & tells me that he just got a call from his parents that his Dad fell off his truck last night at work & is hurt. He needs help getting dressed & getting to the doctor. So, he takes off to go help. As he's leaving he tells me I better go look at my car. I do & Steph had also written all over my windows. Silly girl! I grab the girls to come look & my camera to take pictures. After looking we go to walk into the house.........well, we were locked out. Someone - who knows who - accidentally locked the door. I, of course, have no keys & no phone. We walk to a neighbors house & use a cell phone to call Erik. He had to quickly drive all the way back to let us back in. He also tells me his Dad's hip is hurting & he can't move it. He's broken it once before & Erik thinks it may be broke again. He informs me this may be an all day trip. I'm not worried about that - I just hope he's ok.

Anyway, that's my day so far. What a wonderful beginning! I can't wait to see what other disasters occur today. Maybe I'll just stay locked IN my house all day & forget everywhere I need to be today....

P.S. - I'll post pictures later. I've got to get back to work now.

CHRISTMAS CARD

For those of you that did not receive this via email for whatever reason - here you go...

Dear Family and Friends,

We are taking the easy way out this year & emailing our cards. Much better than last year when we did nothing! So, here's a little peek into what we've been up to...

ERIK - Erik still works for Bell Photographers & enjoys his job. He's working hard to pick up new schools for next season. He also has a new passion he's busy working on. It is "Mob Wars" on facebook. If anyone has a facebook account be sure to find Erik & join his mob. And if you don't have an account - consider opening one so you can join in the fun. He's also been moving our house around. He moved our office into our loft & separated the girls. Which turned into quite the project of reorganizing the whole house. He is also enjoying this season for another one of his loves - Basketball season! He is currently the Sunday School teacher for the 14+ year olds in our ward.

MELANIE - Melanie's been busy teaching away. Her studio is closing though & that comes with mixed emotions. Sad to see it go, but happy to be home more. She lost her older brother Michael this summer & that has been hard. Thank goodness for the gospel & the knowledge that she'll be able to see him again. She just received a calling as the 1st counselor in the Young Womens & is excited for this opportunity. She's even started to work a little more for Erik.

KYLIE - 9 years old - Kylie is our little social butterfly still. She just turned 9 this month & loves having her own room. She's growing up so fast it's just unbelievable! She is now in 3rd grade & was chosen as Student of the Month in September. She was chosen to play "The Dead Girl" in the Easter Pageant this year & loved every minute of it! She was elated to see a clip of her part on the news even. She did so well with her big part. The directors must have thought she did a good job as well because she has been cast in the same part for this coming year! Erik's just hoping he'll be able to carry her up the ramp this time without falling since she's so long. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

JADYN - 5 1/2 years old - Jadyn is still our little princess. She is a girly-girl through & through. She loves anything to do with make-up, hair & fashion. (Poor kid picked the wrong mom to have with those passions.) She started Kindergarten this year & is very proud that she gets a 100% on almost everything she does. She's our little genious & school is not tough for her at all. She loves that her school is a little harder than the normal public school because it's still too easy for her. We'll see how long that lasts. She also received the priviledge of being chosen as Student of the Month for November. She lost her first tooth yesterday & is happy to show everyone how her tongue can now stick out of her teeth.
We are so blessed in many ways. We love & appreciate all of you! We would not be who we are without any of you. We are so thankful for this season & for the Savior in our lives. We love this time of year to be reminded often of His birth & all that He has done for us. We hope all of you are happy & well. We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

ANOTHER DREAM

Just for kicks - here's the dream I had last night....

I was at church in sacrament meeting - sitting in the back row. (Which we always sit right up front in the same area. You know you all have designated areas you sit in! And when someone's visiting & steals your spot you get all flustered for the rest of the block!) Anyhoo, I was approached & asked to come outside to talk to someone in the middle of sacrament. So, I go out in the foyer & some cops are standing there. Weird! They then ask me to help out with an investigation & ask me to go under cover for them. Um... OK. I'm suppose to go into this nursery class, sidetrack the nursery leader & talk her into going out of the classroom to run some kind of erand for the class. So, they get me all dressed up to be under cover. (Not sure why my regular dress wouldn't have worked, but I had to be completely revamped to be undercover. SWEET!) Then, as I'm getting ready to walk into the class I start freking out. I'm completely terrified & start having a panic attack. The cop in charge got frustrated with me & just said to forget it - just bust into the classroom & grab the suspect! So, what do they do? They tear gas the nursery room - yes, kids & all. Storm in & grab the lady they wanted. Oh & they grabbed the kids out as well to get them away from the tear gas. How nice of them!

WEIRD!! What is that suppose to mean? Although, I have to admit, it was a little bit of a nice change for me seeing how I wasn't on the other end of the chase this time like I normally am.

DREAMS & JADYNx2

DREAMS
I do not sleep well at night. And this could be part of the problem. I have the craziest dreams. They are always about people out to get me & chasing me & I usually end up waking up in a panic. Here's just a couple of examples...

Last Tuesday I had a dream that a giant robot was chasing me. I ended up swimming in the ocean because robots would rust in water right? NO! He swam after me. I found a rocky bank that looked like the bank to Alcatraz & started to climb up it & find a hiding spot. I then see the robot coming out of the water right in front of me & I woke up.

On Wednesday I had a dream that I was doing deposits for Bell when I noticed a $1 bill I had just laid down started blinking. Not even a $10 or $20 bill - a $1 bill. The next thing I know may house is swarmed with about 20 SWAT guys pointing their rifles at my face. Turns out the $1 bill was marked for some drug lord & ended up in the Bell deposit. Go figure?

JADYNx2
Jadyn has this little boy in her class named Jayden. I think because they have the same name they have seemed to "click". I ask Jadyn everyday who she played with at recess & she always tells me that she just chased Jayden around. One day I decided to ask his mom about it to see if he ever says anything & she tells me how he never shuts up about Jadyn & she's all he talks about when he comes home from school. She says he comes home spelling her name correctly even though he's still working on his own. Then he tells her that he can't help himself because she's always smiling & she has the cutest smile! I think I like that kid - he has good taste!

CELEBRITIES

The other week I was told I was cool because of all of my "connections". First off, I've never been told I was cool a day in my life! (Thanks Maggie for making me feel special!) On behalf of this funny thought - I think I may need to clarify some things. Here is my run-ins with famous people. (Sorry this will be another novel.) Keep in mind, that they are all more of a "6 degrees to Kevin Bacon" type run-ins. Not people that I actually have met. Besides one.... moment of silence please for the picture I treasure the most...
Not photoshopped in anyway. This is real. I won a backstage meet & greet pass to get a picture taken with my favorite band! Gotta LOVE it!!

Now, to continue on. Did you know that my Dad dated Linda Carter? Oh & that my mom was friends with Steven Spielberg? These are treasured stories (aka jokes) that we tell in my family. Actually, Steven Spielberg did go to Arcadia High with my parents, but he was in a different grade & they didn't know him. He ended up moving away to California after his Sophomore year I think. Linda Carter went to school with them as well. (For those of you that are young - she played "Wonder Woman" on the TV series.) She was a year older, I believe, than my parents & had a younger sister named Pam that my mom was friends with.

When Erik & I were dating we were quite the concert goers. We went to a concert once at a very small venue with a brand new up & coming band named "Weezer". There was maybe 50 people at this concert - quite cool! After we were married we still went to a few concerts. Erik worked for Ticketmaster building the printers that printed out concert tickets. (Remember when you had to go to Dillard's & wait in line for tickets. Gotta love the internet!) Sometimes Erik could pre-order tickets through work & get better seats. We did so for a 311 concert & somehow ended up with tickets that had "CLUB" stamped on them. When we arrived we were told that we could go to the "CLUB" backstage before the show & hang out. We did thinking we might get a glimpse of the band, no such luck. But, the opening band was there & I was a little sad since I was not excited AT ALL for the opening band. They had one single out & it was horrible. It drove me crazy - it was a song called "Fly". Here's who the lead singer was that I stood maybe 3 feet from at one point....
What was I thinking!?! After they played I was so mad at myself because everything they played, besides "Fly" of course, was good. Oh well! You live & you learn. By the way, this picture is one Erik took years later at a benefit concert in Vegas that he was asked to take pictures at. Sugar Ray was the headliner along with Vertical Horizon.

Here's the story that has been construed the most that I must clarify. All of my Vegas friends will laugh hysterically at this one. When Erik & I first moved to Las Vegas we were in Gladys Knight's ward. She is a very busy woman though & was out of town a lot. And no, I do not have her #. They kept that out of the ward list for good reason. I talked to her only a couple of times. She did wish Kylie a Happy Birthday on her first birthday & I thought that was pretty cool. She's hilarious & always had something to say in class. But, she would have no clue who I was. My mom is friends with her daughter Kenya who is the sweetest lady you will ever meet. Kenya was in the ward, too. She has a son named Jordan that's the same age as Kylie. They were in nursery together & he was the cutest little kid. When Kylie started Kindergarten & I would drive her to school I loved seeing Gladys driving her kids to school on her golf cart. It was great!! What a cool grandma! But, that's the whole story.

Some think it's cool that I know Stephenie Meyer's sister-in-law - I am one of those. But, in respect to her & Stephenie I will not say who. This poor lady gets bugged all of the time about Stephenie & I am guilty of bugging her.

I've met the real "Rudy" before. (From the football movie based upon a true story.) My mom & stepdad were friends with him for awhile in Vegas. I won't say why. We just met him once on one of our visits.

Some think my dad is a celebrity. Ok - so about 300 people is all that were in the Easter Pageant. My dad played Jesus in the Easter Pageant for 11 years & he was treated like a star. Especially by the little kids. (Hey! I gotta beef up my stories somehow!) Although, my dad does get told that he looks like Harrison Ford. Which, back in the day, I used to get told I looked like Sarah Jessica Parker in "Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun". I played tennis my freshman year & during one of my matches the girl stopped it & came to the net to tell me I looked like her. "Um, OK, thank you." Then, when I went to Australia for dance I had people ask me if I was her. Weird! Too bad I don't look like her now!

Have you ever been laughed at by a celebrity? Well, you know I have. We had friends visiting in Vegas & we were walking around the strip. We were in the Mirage (not sure why - since there's nothing to see their in my opinion) when everyone had to go to the bathroom besides me. So, we found a restroom down a deserted hall & I sat outside waiting. Just then a few other people came as well. While some of their group went in to the restroom one guy & one girl stayed out talking. I did a double take at the guy because he looked EXACTLY like Steve Harwell. (The lead singer of Smash Mouth.) Same silly skinny beard & everything only his hair was bleach white instead of black. I found myself thinking "What a loser. He is such a wannabe!" The whole time I kept glancing at him & they were just watching me. Like they knew what I was thinking. It was weird. Then, it clicked. It was Steve Harwell - he just bleached his hair. At that point his friends came out & I was getting ready to get up when they looked over at me (Knowing I finally figured it out.) & laughed. Yes, laughed & then walked away. Only to me.

Now, on behalf of this fun - let's end with a game of 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon. Upon which - I'd like to hear yours. Here's mine - I can make it in 5 degrees...

1. I know my stepmom Mignon
2. She has a cousin named Anita that was in a scene of "Dumb and Dumber" with Jim Carrey
3. Jim Carrey was in "Ace Ventura" with Courtney Cox
4. Courtney Cox was in "Friends" with Jennifer Aniston
5. Jennifer Aniston was in a movie called "Picture Perfect" with KEVIN BACON!!
How many can you make it in?

HAIR

This past week has been a hair changing extravaganza at our house. We're trading hair cuts for dance lessons with a lady in my ward, so all 3 of us girls went in for some much needed hair remodeling! The girls were dead set on the idea of getting bangs. Which - I was not happy about. Just the maintenance & the hair constantly on your face, etc, etc.... is not my cup of tea. I despise bangs, but I let them choose what they wanted. They turned out cute, but I just have a weird fetish I guess you could say with bangs.

So, here's the pictures. Please keep in mind that they look A LOT better in person. You would think that since my husband is a photographer I'd have awesome pictures of my kids. Quite on the contrary. Since he takes them all day long - he doesn't like to take pictures any other time. I end up taking the pictures & I'm horrible at it. I cannot for the life of me get a decent picture of Kylie lately. Oh well - at least you get the idea.

Kylie's hair...

Jadyn's hair...

Now, as for me, I've never done anything drastic with my hair. Even when I do go in for a hair cut I always end up looking the same.

I am just hair/fashion challenged in every way! I always want a change, but never go for it.

I've never had my hair colored - only highlights.

I've had my hair cut to my shoulders twice in my whole life.

This time I didn't even tell her what to do. I told her to do whatever she wanted. After all, it's just hair - it'll grow back right?

Now, here's my hair...
I like it a lot. It's just strange to see it on me.

OCD

My name is Melanie & I have problems. I have a bit of OCD tendencies. It's a known fact in my family that my brother's & I tend to get a little obsessive over things. For me, I switch around A LOT! (If you read my blog then you know this already.) My brother's tend to focus on one thing for long periods of time. However, I like to tell myself I'm just being well-rounded. (Hey! Whatever justification works for my sanity right?!) This week - it's food preparedness. If you remember in a previous post I've recently done some canning. Well, peaches were on sale this week, so EmmaLee came over & we canned some peaches.

(Thanks for the pic Emm - I stole it from your blog since I was too dang lazy to take my own!)

I'm going to go get some more peaches & get some more done & even test out jam. That could be scary! We'll see.

Another problem I have is collecting "tools". I like to say I'm a scrapbooker - even though I haven't scrapbooked in who knows how long. Those that have seen my collection know I love to have all kinds of "tools". I have all kinds of cold laminators, a hot laminator, a handheld printer, etc. I also have a frame maker (that has come in handy), a steam canner, a vinly plotter .... you get the point. I just purchased a dehydrator to add to my list of stuff. We'll see how that goes. But, I'm excited to add to my food storage some things that we might actually eat. I mean who's really going to eat 50 lbs of wheat? You lie if you say you will!! So, if anyone wants to do some canning or anything - give me a call!

Just for kicks - since Christmas is around the corner (SCARY!!) - here's a list of some more tools on my list...
vacuum sealer & bags
compound miter saw
router
new computer
DVD converter program

ME, ME, ME, I, I, I

WARNING - LONG POST
Finally, a new discussion topic! Last week my SIL showed me this comedy clip which totally is me in a nutshell!!! Don't spoil the fun & click on the link before you read on:

Me Monster

If you know me, you know that I'm notorious for trying to one-up stories. In fact, we went to dinner last Saturday with the Bell Photo clan (late Christmas party) & I remember telling myself during the day to not talk so much about me & just BE QUIET!!! I'll even catch myself in the middle of a story sometimes & think "you need to shut up now". But, you can't do that mid-story. So, I'll trudge on.

So, this post is all about Me, Me, Me, I, I, I! Here's some of my accomplishments. OK- basically all of them because my list is small & you'll notice as I've stretched some of this to make them sound a little cooler. (You know you all do it on resumes & bios.) Besides, this is all about ME!!

**I grew up being in the Easter Pageant. My family will be in it again this year for the 2nd year as a family. I wasn't in it for the previous 6/7 years. So, long story short this year will be my 23rd year. I've had the following parts: little girl that gives Jesus a flower, angel dancer, accuser of Peter, 10 virgin dancer, dancer with Mary Magdelene (I was never cool enough to actually be Mary Magdelene, but that was still my highlight!) & the mother of the dead girl. Which Kylie gets to be the dead girl this year, so watch for her! (My Dad played the savior for 11 years.)

**I danced all through High School (surprise, surprise) & have won many awards.

**I was 1994 Mesa Cinderella Teen (don't laugh - totally not something I should mention, but as I said - I gotta make it sound cool)

**I love to travel & I've been lucky enough to go to the following countries: US (duh!), Mexico, Brazil, Argentina & Australia - OH! And Hawaii counts, too if you're my Grandma!

**I have done design work for Xyron (a scrapbooking tools company) & was even recently published in an advertisement for them in the Hobby Lobby magazine.

**I am a mom of two GORGEOUS girls! Seriously, my girls are cute - I love them! (Aren't you allowed to be that confident when it comes to your kids? Oh well if you're not, because mine are cute!)

Well, that's all for my short list of accomplishments. Now it's your turn to talk about you! Let's hear some of your accomlishments - don't be shy. You know you want to be the next "Me Monster"! Besides with everything I wrote I could think of at least one, if not more of you, that could easily one-up me! So, let's hear them...
