Viva Las Vegas
Details of my weekend ahead. Keep in mind that I took my camera, but did not take one photo. And I call myself a scrapbooker?! So, I stole photos from the internet to complete my story...
What did you do this weekend? As for me, I took a quick trip to Vegas with my husband & left the kids behind!! (A huge thank you goes out to Rennie & Stephanie for making this possible. They ROCK!! Plus, to my mom for letting us stay in her empty home.) We left on Friday & got their in time for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. This used to be one of our favorite places to go & we haven't been their in a long time, so we indulged!

This used to be one of our favorite places to go & we haven't been their in a long time, so we indulged!
After dinner we headed to the Venetian to see "The Phantom of the Opera". I've been wanting to see this since it came. So, Happy Valentine's Day to me! It was tremendous! The staging & sets were unbelieveable. The actors weren't as good as the movie, but is anything ever as good as the "original". Keep in mind that I've never seen Michael Crawford or Sarah Brightman play the roles either. So, the movie's all I got. But, it was still cool as ever. The only downfall was the fact that Erik & I both had giant heads sitting in front of us, so we left with kinked necks from trying to see around them. UGH!!
Saturday we woke up & headed to the Outlet malls! This pic is for you Allison! We love this place - it is dangerous! The best mall ever!!

Then, we headed to a friends house for her 50th Birthday party (and the main reason for the trip) that her kids threw for her. What a blast it was to see some of our old friends & we even felt a little "home" sick. Vegas, ok - Henderson, was our home for almost 7 years. We were lucky enough to have some wonderful friends while being their!
To top things off we went to Chili's for dinner that night & then headed to Cold Stone Creamery!

And now we're back home. A quick trip, but very fun!

HANNAH

Last weekend I took my girls to see this Hannah Montana movie. They were dying to see it & it was only suppose to be out for one week. So, after looking online last Friday I noticed it was still playing even though it was already over the week timeline. At 5:00pm I saw it was showing at 6:00pm. Kylie was in the tub relaxing & I hurried her out of the tub to rush to the movie theaters. It was actually quite comical the way were rushing around to get their on time to get decent seats. Only to show up & the theater was barely half full.
Anyway, the funnier part of this story is when the movie first started & the first time she came out onto the stage (it's basically the concert with a few backstage stuff) I started to CRY!! WOW! Something must be wrong with me - nevermind that comment we all know there really is something wrong with me. I was just so excited for this young girl & what fun she is having in her life right now. I wish I would have tried to do fun stuff like that when I was younger. Let me clarify, I wish I would have tried to be some silly back up dancer. They have the best job!
It's funny to me as I get older how I catch myself crying at silly things. I cry all the time when I see someone having a fun time or receiving something they really deserve. I definitely cry every Sunday night as I watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition & find it so bizarre that many people don't watch that show. I think it's the best show ever. I love seeing people's stories & reactions when they receive such a wonderful gift that they truly deserve! I cry during great movies, too. The beginning of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat gets me everytime. When Donny walks out into the gym around all the kids - I ball. During Phantom of the Opera when Christine (Emmy Rossum) starts singing "Think of Me" - cry, cry, cry! So, just thought I'd share these off the wall thoughts.
P.S. - I haven't forgotten about ratting some of you out. That's coming soon. Along with some tags. I've been tagged by 2 people, so I got some typing to do.

SILLY KYLIE
Kylie is so nutty! Erik asked me on Friday if I had heard why Kylie thinks she is part black yet? NO! So, he tells me the story of how he picked her up from school one day & she was talking about it. We recently celebrated Martin Luther King Day, so they had talked about what an influence he's been in her class. So, Kylie decides that she has to be part black after this discussion. Well, why you ask? It's actually quite simple when she explains it to you. It basically boils down to the fact that she is so tan & tans so easily. Simple as that. So, she's part black & I am pleading the 5th on how that occured! heehee

OUR LUCK
This is our how luck in life goes. Even though this all happened to Erik - this is typical for us.
So, here is the adventures of Erik & Chad...
Last August Erik & Chad (the other salesman that he works with) had to take a trip up to Ogden, Utah to pick up some stuff from the lab. They flew up on a Monday morning & were to drive home on Tuesday. So, they're off! On the way back home on Tuesday (they're also pulling a large horse trailor behind the truck) they break down outside of Lake Mead. Apparantly one of the wheels was wobbling & they got out to look at what was wrong. 3 of the lugnuts had broken off. WHAT??!! So, they wait for a few hours for a tow truck to come & get towed to Las Vegas. They get stuck in Vegas for 3 days waiting for parts & to get things fixed. Finally, on Friday they start to head home. On the way home they break down AGAIN in Wickenburg. This time the starter motor went out. So, they rent a van to drive back to town to wait for the truck to get fixed.
Last Monday Erik & Chad had to make a trip up to St. George & back. On the way back (it's always on the way back) they were driving through the Gorge when 100's of rocks come flying off the mountain & just shred the windshield to Erik's truck. (So I'm told anyway - I never got to see the damage.) When they arrived in Wickenburg it was time to fill up the truck again. So, they stop at the same gas station as they did in the previous story. They pull out after filling up & the truck dies in the middle of the intersection. They push the truck back into the parking lot to try & figure out what is going on. Keep in mind that this is around 9:00 at night.
While sitting in the truck figuring out what to do & making some calls they see another car do the exact same thing. They jump out to help the guy push his car back into the parking lot. (What good samaritans!) Anyway, it turns out that they had gotten some bad gas. Which, come to find out, is not an easy fix & does a real number on your engine. So, they call for a tow truck & wait for it to drive up from Peoria to get them & sit back & watch all the cars die. (Actually, I think they put bags on the pumps after a little bit, but there was a few that died before that happened & I can only imagine Erik & Chad sitting in the truck laughing their heads off watching the cars drop like flies.) The tow truck shows up around 11:30pm & they decide which dealarship to tow to. So, I being the good wife (J/K), load up my girls at 1:30 in the morning (with school for both of them the next day) & head out to pick the boys up at the dealership they got dropped off at.
Erik takes his keys in the next day & picks up a rental car for awhile & also finds out that the mechanic is a kid from High School he knew. FUNNY! On Fiday the truck is still not close to being done, so Erik still has the rental. He's driving on the freeway & he sees a giant rock come flying. With cars on the side of him he had nowhere to go. He just had to sit & watch it hit. It hits the windshield quite hard! It didn't go all the way through, but glass still went flying over the dash of the passenger side & even flew onto Erik's cheek & arm! This is the second windshield mishap in a week!!!
On Monday Erik finds out his truck is ready & takes the rental car back to them & tells them what happend. Story should end right? HECK NO!!!
Erik gets his truck & notices it needs gas. He calls me to let me know & tells me how happy he is to have his truck back! He finds a gas station & notices a tanker truck their & feels a little leary about filling up. He asks the tanker man his opinion on filling up & he says (now listen up because this is a good lesson for everyone) that he never fills up when a tanker truck is at a gas station. Apparently when a tank is being filled, if it has junk on the bottom, that junk will get mixed around with the gas. He said to always wait at least 30 min. to let the junk settle back down to the bottom of the barrel so it doesn't ruin your engine. So, he heads somehwere else to fill up. After filling up he notices that his gauge is still pointed to "E". So, he drives straight back to the dealership laughing & tells the mechanic what's up. Now, he has another rental & is dealing with insurance on getting the windshield replaced on the previous rental car.
This is now the end of our story - we hope!! The week is still young & he still has a rental car in his posession. Wish us luck!
